The Haumoana Kids Market
Growing the next generation of innovators, creators and business leaders
The Haumoana Kids Market is a community event where young entrepreneurs get to shine. First launched in December 2023, it has quickly grown into a vibrant space where tamariki showcase their creativity, business skills, and confidence.
Held at the Haumoana Hall (50 Haumoana Road), the market regularly hosts 80–100 stalls, making it one of the biggest kids’ markets in Hawke’s Bay. Each stall is run by a child or group of children, selling everything from handmade crafts and baking to art, jewellery, produce, and unique creations.
The market isn’t just about buying and selling—it’s about learning real-life skills. Kids experience everything from product development and marketing to money handling and customer service, all within a safe, supportive environment. Parents and whānau play a vital role too, encouraging and supporting their young stallholders while enjoying a fun, community-focused day out.
What started in Haumoana has now extended into Hastings and even featured at the Hawke’s Bay A&P Show, helping more tamariki gain exposure and confidence in their entrepreneurial journey.
By supporting the Haumoana Kids Market, you’re not just buying a product—you’re helping grow the next generation of innovators, creators, and business leaders.
Come along, spread the word, and see what our amazing tamariki can do!

FAQS
Where is the market?
The Kids Market is held at the Haumoana Hall, 50 Haumoana Rd, Haumoana. On occasion our market may take place at other locations.
Do I have to stay with my child?
Yes, every stall must have an adult supervising at all times.
Where can I get cash?
There are ATMs and banks nearby in Clive, Hastings, Havelock North and Napier. Please don’t ask local shops or supermarkets for change.
How much money should I bring as a cash float?
We recommend bringing about $50 for change.
Can I run a raffle or competition?
Yes, as long as you comply with Department of Internal Affairs gambling rules.
Can my child be next to their sibling or friend?
Stalls are usually not pre-allocated, so you can arrange to set up next to each other on the day. If stalls are allocated in advance, please let us know and we’ll do our best to place friends or family together.
Can I bring my own marquee?
Yes, you can. Single stallholders (1.2m wide space) will need to share marquee space. If you book multiple stalls, you’re welcome to use your own marquee.
Do you have power?
No, we don’t provide power as the market is predominantly outdoors.
Can I book a bigger stall?
Yes, you can! Each stall is 1.2m wide, but you’re welcome to book multiple stalls if you’d like more space.
What happens if it rains?
If it rains heavily, we may move a limited number of stalls into the Haumoana Hall. If the market has to be cancelled due to weather, this call will be made on the day.
How do I secure a stall?
Stalls can be purchased directly through our website to confirm your spot.
How much should I sell my products for?
This should be based on the cost of your product/service you are selling. Our workbook has exercises to help work out how to price your products/services
What size table should I bring?
Stall space is 1.2m wide. A small fold-out table works best. These can be found at Kmart, Bunnings etc.
Where can I park?
